Portillo & Valle Nevado

Portillo is a beautiful self contained resort, close to the Argentine border with uncrowded slopes and beautiful views over the Lake of the Incas. Valle Nevado is an intermediate's paradise being the largest ski area in the Southern Hemisphere, linked to the ski areas of El Colorado and La Parva. Both resorts are worth crossing the Equator for. Most activity is centred around the hotels. The Hotel Portillo bar is one of the most popular places, with leather padded seats, a giant fireplace and live music every night. You can try out the disco or La Posada (just outside the hotel) which has a local flavour with regional music and occasional wall shaking!
Valle Nevado has a new fitness centre with aerobic, yoga and dancing classes, as well as a pool and sauna. Join in with the entertainment programme or relax in a choice of 5 bars with varied (and usually late!) après ski on offer.
